The pursuit of inspiration in London
The teaching corps went to London to get inspiration from English universities in regards to implementing elements of practice-based teaching.
The teaching corps, which is managed by Copenhagen School of Entrepreneurship, went to London to do research on how English universities manage their implementation of practice-based elements. The focus of the trip was to examine courses as chemistry, organisation, strategy, animal genetics, photonics and other courses which are not directly related to students starting up businesses or creating jobs for themselves.
The four-day-trip involved visiting London Business School, known for its heavy case-study tradition and the strong cooperation between businesses within the courses mentioned as well as Kingston Entrepreneurship Center which attaches great importance to applying games as a learning platform.
Program Co-ordinator, Karina Rothoff says that “both universities proved to be inspiring. However, we have acknowledged that we have not been able to find the recipe on how to implement entrepreneurship in the established courses at CBS, KU and DTU. Besides that, we were confirmed that this teaching program where implementation of practice elements is the centre of attention is quite new to the leading universities in England. They as well as we face the same challenges. Our daily meetings provided the possibility of reflecting and sparring upon our shared experiences, why we were able to go into details with the shared challenges concerning the implementation.
Innovation and intrapreneurship are also part of the core issues of the teaching corps due to the fact that we take pride in embracing other students than the ones who want to start up their own businesses.
In order to get qualified insight into how large companies maintain their innovative ways of thinking for both the market as well as their employees, the teaching corps spent half a day at Google, which introduced their internal innovation focus, their way of working as well as the “Google spirit”.
The next team of teachers who will become a part of the corps will be launched after the summer break, and if you are a university teacher and want to extend one’s competencies within the area of entrepreneurship teaching, contact program coordinator, Karina Rothoff at kr.lpf@cbs.dk.
